Last Weekend, May 23-26,  was the south-west pop-culture event Phoenix Comicon 2013. We were there with our cameras ready to take on the crowds of cosplayers at the convention. Unfortunately, there were so many amazing cosplayers that we couldn’t snap shots of all of them. Here are the cool cosplay photos we took from Phoenix Comicon 2013!..

Sexy OS-tan cosplay Windows 2000 by Ayaka

This is such a cute Windows based cosplay. We don’t know much about the cosplayer Ayaka, and we only found these images on Google. However that doesn’t mean that this super cute technology based costume doesn’t need to be featured. With the Windows 2000 logo colors crossed into this cosplay and the adorable headdress featuring the logo, too. Of course the heels are adorable and so are the glasses. Overall we think this is a super cute OS-tan Windows 2000 cosplay!

Black Rock Shooter Cosplay Vampy Bit Me Photo production amazing

Today, we’re featuring the beautiful model and otaku cosplayer VAMPY as Black Rock Shooter. Although VAMPY was born in Oklahoma she now lives in California. VAMPY is a famous model and cosplayer, and her website/blog is VAMPYbit.me. This Black Rock Shooter cosplay is one of the best we’ve ever seen. She has the scars in the right place and the cold emotionless stare down, but let’s look at the rest of the costume, too.  The boots look amazing and just like the original artwork of Black Rock Shooter. The belt, shorts, and bikini type top are also correct. Of course the coat, Black Rock Shooter’s iconic coat, looks as if it walked out of the illistration, too. It is simply amazing. She looks like the real Black Rock Shooter. We know we don’t want to mess with her.sexy Black Rock Shooter Cosplay VAMPY model

Black Rock Shooter is a Japanese media franchise based on characters created by Ryohei “Huke” Fuke. It revolves around its eponymous character, a mysterious black haired girl with a blazing blue eye. The original Black Rock Shooter illustration inspired a song of the same name by Supercell, a J-pop group, which gained popularity on Nico Nico Douga. The Black Rock Shooter song was sung by popular Vocaloid software Hatsune Miku. A 50-minute OVA (original video animation) based on the Black Rock Shooter was produced by Yutaka Yamamoto’s studio Ordet, written by Nagaru Tanigawa and Shinobu Yoshioka, and directed by Shinobu Yoshioka. A “Pilot Edition” was released on DVD and Blu-ray in September of 2009. This was before the full version of Black Rock Shooter OVA was released on DVDs bundled with select magazines from July 24, 2010, subtitled in seven different languages, followed by a retail release on December 17, 2010. An eight episode anime series aired on Fuji TV between February 3 and March 23, 2012. The Black Rock Shooter franchise has also spawned several manga series, and a Black Rock Shooter video game for the PSP, Black Rock Shooter: The Game; each of these are set in their own universe.

This piece is by popular artist Tenmyouya Hisashi. He’s a Japanese artist known for what he calls “Neo Nihonga” art. Basically, a new version of Japanese style art which of course is called  nihonga. This particular painting sold at a Christie’s art auction in Hong Kong for about $600,000. It’s 6.5 ft. by 6.5 ft big. It’s a painting of the iconic RX-79 from Mobile Suit Gundam. It’s aiming its beam rifle while a green dragon twists around the Gundam. Something every Gundam fan would love to have.
