This guy pulls off Alex Louis Armstrong almost too realistically. (Y’know, minus the freakishly sized muscles and all) His hair and mustache look amazing, real, and they even match into his eyebrows. From the small bit of costume detail you can see here he has quite a good looking cosplay, too. We also like how he made his own spiked gauntlets, we gotta admit he does make an excellent Alex Louis Armstrong, from Fullmetal Alchemist.

Fullmetal Alchemist is a manga series created by Hiromu Arakawa. The world of Fullmetal Alchemist is styled after the European Industrial Revolution, and is set in a fictional universe in which alchemy is an advanced scientific technique. In 2009, it earned a second part to the anime adaption which is called Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. FMA also has quite a few feature length films under its belt.

Sadly, we do not know who this cosplayer is, but we did find the photo on Tumblr.

Japanese Cosplayer Reveals How to Make Rad Cosplay Prop Weapons 2

Being an awesome costume maker is one thing. Being an awesome prop maker is another. Hailing from Japan, cosplayer Ryo, shows off his costumes and props on his website. He makes them for a living and he does a pretty good job. Interestingly, he also shows you how to make them with step by step instructions. Besides general costumes, some of the items he shows you how to make range from simple knives to highly detailed Monster Hunter swords. He also makes full suits of armor and even vulcan cannons. All of the items are light weight props of course, made for the purpose of cosplay.

We’re really big fans of Studio GhibliHayao Miyazaki. One of my favorite works by them is Princess Mononoke. There are many great cosplays of San (the girl raised by wolves in the film) and that’s fine and dandy. But not many people attempt to cosplay the awesome Shishigami (Forest Spirit) and even few pull it off. Cosplayer marue has taken a very challenging costume and created something of her own. The presentation and attention to detail is what makes this costume successful. I especially like the headpiece which is covered in fur. The antlers are just long enough; accented with butterflies and plant life. The face mask also looks great, covering the human features with the animal nose and mouth. Finally, the whole costume comes together thanks to consistent fur and details through out the costume, coupled with excellent color coordination.

A bit about Princess Mononoke
Miyazaki combines the stark realism and action-packed pace of Japanese samurai epics; a cast of equally strong male and female characters fighting for what they believe; and a mystical journey through animist mythology into something rarely experienced in filmmaking: a wholly original world of complex, adult drama forged through animation. Miyazaki put his targeted audience for PRINCESS MONONOKE at “anyone older than 5th grade.” Still, he painted his world with a truthful brush, revealing with frank details the brutality of war and intense hatred between peoples.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was just released today, worldwide by Platinum Games and Konami. We thought it would be a good idea to show off 2 of the coolest Raiden cosplays we’ve ever seen.

The first costume was created by effektdmentality, a skilled cosplayer and costume maker who previously has also done Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid. The armor in this costume really shines, giving it a feeling of reality. The shoulder pieces in particular have a lot of detail to them. The robotic jaw is also a nice touch, metal teeth and all.

The second Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance cosplay is a bit more detailed… and more ab-ey! This one also features some really cool armor. Similarly, the robot jaw makes for a great center piece. He also really nailed the hair, giving him Raiden’s signature tuft.  It was created by League of Replica.
